Kumon Educational Japan Co., Ltd. Holds Training Programme for Kumon Bangladesh Team
Mr. Katsu Inoe, Executive Director of KIE, Mr. Kenji Inoe and Ms. Masako Inoue, Japanese delegates from Kumon Educational Japan Co., Ltd. (KIE) held a three day training programme (May 23rd – May 25th ‘2017) at BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL), BRAC University for the delegates of BRAC-Kumon team at BIL representing Mr. Nehal bin Hasan, Project in Charge, Mr. Obaid Rahman, Manager- Marketing & PR, Mr. Aneek Shibgat Bhuiyan, Manager- HR & Admin, Ms. Munia Islam Mojumdar, Kumon Instructor and Ms. Humayra Mostofa, Kumon Instructor.
KIE is an organization that offers private tutoring in the Kumon centres and practices the Japanese educational method of mathematics and reading. The first Kumon Centre was opened in Osaka, Japan, in 1985. As of November 2014, over 4.3 million students have enrolled under Kumon method in more than 30,000 Kumon Centres in 49 countries around the world. In Bangladesh, Kumon was first introduced in BRAC Education Programme with funding from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The pre-piloting began in November 2014 in three of the BRAC Primary Schools (BPS) for mathematics. BIL is currently working with Kumon in partnership with BRAC to establish the first Kumon centres in Dhaka to offer its programmes for students from all tiers of the society.
During their visit, the Japanese delegates along with BRAC-Kumon team also held meetings to discuss issues such as business plans, future training programmes, and so on. Moreover, an exclusive meeting was held between Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, Chairperson of BRAC at his Office, BRAC Centre where Lady Syeda Sarwat Abed, Director of BIL, Dr. Muhammad Musa, Executive Director of BRAC, Mr. SN Kairy, CFO of BRAC and Mr. Nehal Bin Hasan, Project in Charge of Kumon have discussed the on-going progress of the Kumon Project.
At the end of the visit, they conveyed their appreciation of the initiatives undertaken by BRAC and BRAC University and also expressed their aspiration to expand their support in the development programs conducted in Bangladesh.
